Schaumburg Flyers News Release
LOVES PARK, IL - The Flyers (26-42) used a Travis Brown home run to beat the Rockford Riverhawks (30-37) 6-3 at Road Ranger Stadium Monday night.
Travis Brown finished the night 4-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. It was his first four hit game of the season.
After Rockford grabbed an early two run lead, the rest of the game belonged to the Flyers. Schaumburg scored six unanswered runs in the fifth through ninth innings to secure the victory.
Mario Delgado started the scoring in the fifth with his second home run in three games and Ron Bourquin singled in Brown to tie the game up.
After Brown hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot over the right center field wall in the seventh, the Flyers didn't look back. Schaumburg put up a run in the seventh on Richard Mercado's single and plated two more in the ninth.
Schaumburg starter Dustin Glant (6-4) tossed a solid six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out two and walking six. Mike McTamney (1-1) took the loss in relief for the Riverhawks and Brian McCullough pitched a virtually flawless final three innings to pick up his first save of the season.
The Flyers conclude their four game set with the Riverhawks at Road Ranger Stadium Thursday night. Todd Moser will take the hill for Schaumburg opposite Rockford's Mike Wood.
