Lake County Fielders News Release

The Lake County Fielders began a fresh start against the Chico Outlaws tonight, winning 4-2.

With new manager Chris Arago at the helm, the team came together to come from behind and win their 25th game of the season.

The Outlaws jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring runs in the 3rd and 5th inning off of Fielder's starting pitcher Medina.

Chico's starting pitcher, David Roberts, was terrific to start the game, throwing 4.1 innings of no-hit ball until Fielders third baseman Sam Judah hit a triple in the gap in the 5th inning. Judah later scored on left fielder David Coleman's single to cut the lead to 2-1.

Medina went on to throw one more scoreless inning until Trenton Lee came in relief in the 7th. Medina went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in tonight's game.

In the 7th inning, Fielder's catcher Alan Rick struck again, hitting a long solo home run (second of the season) deep into the right field bleachers to tie the game up at 2-2. After Judah reached on base via an error and Coleman hit an infield single, center fielder Maikel Jova promptly cleared the bases on a double in the gap to make it a 4-2 Fielders lead.

Lee went on to finish out the game, throwing three scoreless innings while only giving up one hit with three strikeouts, good for his first win of the season.

With the victory, the Fielders remain in first place and ahead of the Edmonton Capitals.

The Fielders will try to make it two in a row against Chico tomorrow night in the second game of the series at 7p.m.
