San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---All good things must come to an end, as the Colts second six-game winning streak of the year was broken Wednesday night. San Angelo also had won 12 of their last 13 and had built a five game lead over the WhiteWings going into Wednesday night's action. The Colts would be shutout for the first time this season, losing 4-0 to the Wings.
The WhiteWings struck first with a two-run homer by Gerardo Avila (6) and lead 2-0 after two. Rio Grande added another pair in the third on a RBI triple by Antonio DeJesus and an RBI groundout by David Peralta, taking a 4-0 lead after three. That would be all starter Chase Davenport would need for the WhiteWings, as he threw seven and a third scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, walking three, while striking out seven.
Colts starter Chandler Barnard, after a rough start settled down allowing four runs (three earned) in six innings, on five hits while walking three, and striking out seven. Brian Henschel also did a nice job pitching out of the bullpen for the first time this season, throwing two innings of scoreless one-hit ball.
The Colts and WhiteWings play a double-dip on Thursday as right-hander Adam Kramer (1-1, 6.09) goes in game one against righty player/coach Alexander Concepcion (4-3, 7.08) for the Wings. In game two it will be righty Alex Casillas for San Angelo (2-0, 5.68) against fellow right-hander Eddie Dennis Jr. (1-0, 5.55) for Rio. It all begins with the pre-game show at 5:45 with the first pitch set for 6:05. You can hear all the Colts action on 101.9 "The Fire".
