Calgary, AB - The Edmonton Capitals opened up a three-game series in Calgary against the Vipers on Tuesday night, and while they had a strong start, they succumbed to a sudden Calgary comeback in the late innings and eventually lost 9-8.

The Caps batters were looking good in the first few innings of the game at Foothills Stadium as shortstop Enrique Cruz opened up the scoring with a three-run home run in the second inning. Catcher Nick Valdez also slugged a three-run home run of his own to extend the lead to 7-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, at which point Calgary mounted its comeback.

Caps pitcher Daryl Arreola got off to a great start, tossing 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts before surrendering four runs in the seventh. Four more Caps pitchers tried to put a stop to Calgary's offensive charge but came up short. David Davidson surrendered four runs in the eighth inning and Brandon Villafuerte gave up the tie-breaking run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Vipers the 9-8 walk-off win.
