Ferkodic Named to Slovakia WJAC Roster

Lincoln Stars forward Max Ferkodic has been named to Slovakia's team for the 2023 World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 10-17 in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Ferkodic, 19, has a goal and an assist in 17 games with the Stars. Both of his points came in Lincoln 4-1 win over Youngstown on Oct. 14 at the Ice Box. Ferkodic was selected by the Stars in the 11th round of the 2023 USHL Phase II Draft.
"We are very excited for Max to have the opportunity to represent his country in the World Junior A Challenge," Stars head coach Rocky Russo said. "He has been identified as one of the best young players in Slovakia and earned this opportunity. We wish him the best of luck in the tournament and look forward to his return to Lincoln after the holiday break."
The Nitra, Slovakia, native recorded 62 points (30+32) in 40 games for HK Nitra U20 in 2022-23 after posting 26 points (11+15) in 32 games the season before.
Ferkodic is the second member of the Stars to appear on a WJAC roster, after Adam Kleber was named to the United States roster last month.
The World Junior A Hockey Challenge pits some of the top 18-and-under prospects from around the world against each other. This year's tournament will feature Canada East, Canada West, Slovakia, Sweden and the United States. The five teams are made up of players born in 2005 and 2006, with a maximum of five 2004-born players allowed on each team.
Slovakia opens the WJAC Dec. 10 against Canada East. Ferkodic will face his Stars teammate Kleber and the United States Dec. 11. Slovakia's final two games of the preliminary round are Dec. 13 against Canada West and Dec. 15 against Sweden.
Lincoln is home this weekend to face the Fargo Force this Friday-Sunday. Fans can purchase tickets to all three games for the price of just two games by purchasing a December Weekend Package at lincolnstars.com.
