Ferguson Redeems Nuts in 5-4 Win

Modesto, CA. - Despite coughing up a three-run lead in the ninth, Collin Ferguson won it for the Modesto Nuts in their 5-4 defeat of the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.

With two runners on and only one out, Collin Ferguson smashed a decisive single into center off Jared Miller (L, 0-2) to give the Nuts (17-23) a walk-off win over the Visalia Rawhide (25-15).

In the top of the ninth, the Rawhide scored the first earned runs of the season off of Nuts closer Jerry Vasto (W, 1-0). Colin Bray crushed a two-run double to make it a one-run game. Bray attempted to steal third. The throw from Troy Stein skipped into left to allow the tying run to score.

Carlos Polanco recorded his best start of his season going a season-high seven innings while recording a season-high nine strikeouts.

Emerson Jimenez recorded two hits, two stolen bases, scored a run and drove in one. Stein went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Omar Carrizzales drove in a run, scored the winning tally and recorded two hits.
