Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lancaster, CA - The Lancaster JetHawks completed a three-game sweep of the 66ers with a comeback 7-6 win over Inland Empire (11-30) at the Hangar on Thursday. The series sweep marked the seventh time out of 12 series that the Sixers have been swept this year.

The JetHawks (18-20) got a run in the bottom of the first on the first pitch IE starter Jake Jewell threw when Drew Ferguson drilled a solo homer, his third of the year. Ferguson would add a double, two walks, and a stolen base on the night. Inland Empire had a big answer in the second however as Michael Strentz doubled to open the inning. After two quick outs, Zach Welz singled in Strentz to tie the game. Tim Arakawa reached on an error extending the inning for Caleb Adam's RBI single to take a 2-1 lead. Hutton Moyer then blasted a three-run homer off Elieser Hernandez to make it a 5-1 lead for the Sixers. It was Moyer's first of the season.

The JetHawks chiseled into the lead with single runs in the third, fourth and fifth to make it 5-4. In the sixth they broke through when Garrett Stubbs took IE reliever Nate Fury (0-1) deep with a three run shot to give the Hawks a 7-5 lead. It extended Stubbs hit streak to 16 games and was his third homer in the last two days.
