General thoughts on the match...

"I thought the first 10 minutes we were good, and then at the end of the first half we were reactive. We didn't press together, we didn't attack. We had some possession, but we weren't finishing plays with a pass, so we would lose possession, they would counter and that's how they scored. We shared some things in the half, and I thought the second half was fantastic. I thought we pushed the game, I thought we went for it. We created much more. I thought we put in the effort to tie this game. The details weren't there to actually do it, so [we're] disappointed in the overall result but I'm proud of the group to push it and come here in an environment that's not easy to play. And create more, create more in the second half and control the game more in the second half. I thought our back line - I know we gave up a goal - but they kept us in the game, and some of the pieces that came off the bench to help us push the game. It's good to have Acosta back in there. Santi showed energy to get forward and attack. If we get a little more quality on those crosses, a little more conviction and a harder cross - earlier, potentially a harder run. We can get on the end of something to change the game. We'll carry this lesson into the next opportunity that we have in four days. We don't have much time to dwell, we got to now build up and get the points back at home against DC on Thursday."

On Bryan Acosta returning to the lineup...

"Yeah, Bryan Acosta is dynamic. He's in that 6/8 role, helps us recover the ball, he closes things down and then with it he has a lot of quality, He switches the ball a few times early when he came in. We were able to isolate on that side, the opposite side, and get forward. He's comfortable with the ball, he has the technique, and it's great to have him back in our midfield. We integrated him today, and he's only been with us for two days. We look forward to having him continue to be ready to push for the next opportunity."

On moving forward to DC on Thursday...

"It's an experience. We're not happy with the first half, but we have to be proud of the second half. It wasn't enough, overall, but that's the lesson. We're not going to get too down on it, we have to maintain an even mentality to be hungry and respond against DC. That's a game that we want really bad."

Midfielder Paxton Pomykal

General thoughts...

"It was a tale of two halves in a way. I thought the first five minutes were really positive from us, and then the rest of the half was God-poor awful - myself included, that was a really poor half from me. I know that, and I have to be better. The whole team has to be better, and we kind of regrouped in the second half. We came out, and just kind of went out there with a different mindset. I thought we were the better side in the second half. Ultimately, if you win the first half and tie the second half, that team wins so that's how it worked out.

On the atmosphere and Portland midfield...

"The atmosphere was great. Obviously, this is a really cool place to play, the stadium was packed really loud. It's hard to hear, so that's unfortunate for us when we're trying to communicate, talk on the field. Yeah, Portland has a talented midfield. They try to overload a lot of guys in there, and even Blanco on the wing coming in kind of created four in the midfield. It was hard for us at times, but other teams in the league do that as well so we need to adapt to that quicker and figure out how to play against them quicker."

On adjustments after the Portland goal...

"Being more aggressive, going forward, throwing numbers. The re-press was a lot more evident in the second half. They kind of put their heads down and forced them to go long, and then win second balls. In the first half we were allowing them to play out of the back and build up. That was a mistake we made."
