General thoughts...

Great exercise, we play to win. We had the mentality; we talked about it before the game, this is a not-friendly mentality. This is a compete to win, because that's the way we get out of our comfort zone and grow. It's an honor to play, to coach against Oscar Pareja in a friendly against his former club. This will always be his home and he's a big model for me and a great example who led me when I was here. So, just to coach against him, it was a beautiful experience and I will never forget it. We wish them the best; we hope that it was a good exercise for them. Oscar has the honor to even come at halftime and say, 'Hey, can we play 11 versus 11 even though you got a red?' That shows him what kind of human being he is, that he wants a challenge for his team, but the rules of the game and the refs did not agree with that. So, we had to play a way that doesn't allow us to press up the field as much or impose as much, but I thought we still tried to possess and build. We created some counters and we made it a positive experience if we're in that type of circumstance, a man down, against LAFC or so forth so on, you saw with Brazil today against Peru so, it is the reality of the game and we have to be ready. That taught us that we can do it. Good to get some young guys opportunities, some valuable minutes for their confidence, for their fitness, their rhythm. We got to rest some guys that have played a lot of minutes. We'll come back together Tuesday and compete as a group and get ready for the opportunity we have against Minnesota.

On how the red card changed the game plan personnel wise...

Yeah, absolutely. There was a player that didn't get to play in the game that I just physically didn't have the sub for so, I'm disappointed in that circumstance. That player is a great professional and showed a lot of respect and of course understands it is what it is. That was the situation.

On focusing for Minnesota...

We will be off tomorrow then we will start training Tuesday to build for our trip to Minnesota. Minnesota got an important win for them on the weekend and we can't depend on other results to go our way, we can only depend on our mentality, what we can control. This game against Minnesota is, as you call, a six-point game because it's against an in-conference opponent, first time we get to play them. They've got a new stadium, great support there. We know what we're up against and we're really looking forward to it.

Club Tijuana head coach Oscar Pareja

Overall thoughts on the match...

It was good. Sad because of the red card, it just put the game on a different note. We came from a long distance to have a good game, and I'm not saying that we didn't have it, but it would've been great if we could've had 11-on-11, but it was good. We took the best out of the game and we competed.

On being back at Toyota Stadium and playing against his old club...

I was very excited and happy to see [Luchi Gonzalez] working with the team. I think the club has been very faithful to its philosophy and I think they're doing a great job and that excites me a lot.
