SAN JOSE, Calif. - Real Salt Lake (8-9-2, 26 points) fell late to the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on Saturday night at Avaya Stadium.

Postgame Quotes from SJ v RSL
The first half of action saw both sides trade chances but neither team could find the back of the net, although both goalkeepers were tested with no clear sights at goal. The best chance came in the 31st minute, but MF Damir Kreilach missed just wide with his header and the match went into halftime knotted at 0-0.
The second half saw RSL generate the more dangerous chances. MF Nick Besler nearly found the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute, but his shot with the outside of his foot just skipped past the far post. The Quakes found the winning goal in second-half stoppage time when Danny Hoesen tapped home an easy goal inside the six-yard box to claim the 1-0 win.
UP NEXT: Real Salt Lake will now host the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, July 13 at Rio Tinto Stadium at 8:00p MT.
GOAL SCORING RUNDOWN:
SJ: Danny Hoesen (Paul Marie), 90'+3 minute: A quick corner kick caught RSL off-guard inside the area as Marie played a low cross into the area towards Hoesen, who did well to adjust and glance the ball home for the stoppage-time goal.
NOTES:
- DF Tony Beltran (knee), DF Nedum Onuoha (adductor) and FW Sam Johnson (quad) were out of action due to injury.
- GK Nick Rimando started his 500th career MLS match, becoming the first player in MLS history to reach that milestone.
- FW Jefferson Savarino returned from international duty with the Venezuelan National Team on Wednesday and featured for 68 minutes against San Jose. He played two matches in the 2019 Copa America in Brazil, as Venezuela advanced out of the group only to fall to Argentina in the quarterfinal round.
- With his second-half yellow card, FW Sebastian Saucedo will miss RSL's match against Philadelphia next week, serving a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation.
