Red Bulls Secure Crucial Road Point Late in Atlanta

A last-minute Bradley Wright-Phillips goal helped the New York Red Bulls (8-7-4, 28 pts) earn a 3-3 draw with Atlanta United FC (9-7-3, 30 pts) on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

New York remained unbeaten against Atlanta in the regular season, owning a 4-0-2 mark.

Atlanta winger Justin Meram beat Kyle Duncan one-on-one and finished to the far post for an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.

New York responded with the equalizer in the 37th minute as Alex Muyl forced a turnover, swung his pass across the top of the 18-yard box for Marc Rzatkowski. Rzatkowski swung his pass to the left for Daniel Royer, who curled his shot past Brad Guzan to the far post.

Early in the second half, New York created another turnover and saw a tic-tac-toe of passes until Brian White finished to the near post for the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute.

Atlanta's Josef Martinez recorded a brace in a span of 12 minutes to give the home side a 3-2 lead in stoppage time.

Coming off the bench in the 77th minute, Wright-Phillips proved to key as he scored the equalizer two minutes into stoppage time to earn the road point.

Wright-Phillips scored his second goal of 2019 and first since March 16.

BWP recorded his 108th career MLS goal to move into a tie for seventh all-time with Jason Kreis .

Royer recorded a goal and assist on the day to raise his league totals to five goals and six assists. The Austrian winger scored his 40th career goal as a Red Bull across all competitions.

White scored his third goal in the last four matches and raised his team lead in goals to six on the season.

Alex Muyl had his first career two-assist match to raise his career league total to 18.

The Red Bulls move to a 3-2-2 mark in league play following a loss with a plus-three goal differential (13 GF, 10 GA).

Head coach Chris Armas moved to 20-10-7 all-time at the helm.

New York is 49-41-23 all-time in the month of July. New York has scored 185 goals in July and allowed 173.

New York breaks up their back-to-back two-match road trips with the New York Derby against New York City FC on Sunday, July 14 at Red Bull Arena. Sunday's NY Derby is slated to kick off at 6:30 p.m. EST with coverage on FS1, Fox Sports Go and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
