General thoughts on the match...
"The end result is disappointing because we had the lead twice. When you have the lead, it's your job to close the game and to win it. I have to be positive that I felt we showed some of our best soccer this game. We had some of the best highs in terms of with the ball, combos, playing in the channels and confident play. We also showed some of our best moments of pressure, collective pressure and commitment from everybody on the field. Those are good takeaways. But the end result is still a draw. And I know that's a very good team, but we wanted to certainly win that game here at home for our fans and each other. Some of the goals we conceded were just moments we turned off. We're fighting out there and maybe we don't get a call, we maybe sit on it for a little longer than we should, and that's my biggest hard lesson that we're not happy with. A lot of positives to take from it, a point is never bad unless it's the last game of the season and you need more. We've got to keep climbing and training to improve things."
On how the team did holding the ball...
"We wanted to take the ball away with the press and take the ball away by moving it well. I thought we did have some good moments of high block possessions and getting players forward. We scored two today which is positive against a good defensive side, but we also conceded two and we have to be disappointed with that. We have to reflect on why we let those goals in. Overall, we had really good highs that we can use as a reference to continue to improve on for the next game--which is Houston away."
FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer
On conceding to Columbus twice...
Columbus is a great team, but they were both basically counters against the run of play. The biggest thing is that they came out hungrier than us in the second half. You got to come out with more energy and not be caught in the back foot and that was the same kind of pressing as well as when we first started to try and build. We were just a half step behind, and they were hungry for it and we didn't find solutions of counter pressing them and putting the ball behind them and getting our organization down. We let them stretch us and those 2 goals were very similar and that's what cost us tonight, not adapting and not matching and exceeding their energy levels.
FC Dallas midfielder Fafa Picault
What it was like breaking through Columbus' defense...
First half we were a bit stronger, doing that. We came out with a bit more fire. Mikey (Barrios) and I switched at one point, so it did help, as well, we were mixing things up. Maybe the first few minutes were a little tough, but we started finding little ways to get in behind and also get crosses in, as well as breaking in on the short plays. So we found ways, I think.
Disappointed to come out here with one point. It feels like zero because it's a game we should have won. It's a great team, a very good opponent but we still should have left with three points.
On teaming up with Michael Barrios for the first goal of the match....
Soccer is a fluid game. We definitely have a good connection, Mikey (Barrios) and I. Even if we don't get to switch the ball to each other that often. He has good speed and so do I. Once I got that ball, I knew I just had to put it in the back post and hopefully be there and he made a great run and finished with the ball, as well.
