FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 8, 2011) - Major League Soccer announced today the finalists for its 2011 postseason awards. Winners for each award will be announced between now and MLS Cup on Nov. 20 (awards announcement schedule below). Among the finalists were FC Dallas' Brek Shea (Volkswagen MVP) and Kevin Hartman (Goalkeeper of the Year).

Shea started 30 MLS games for FC Dallas, recording 11 goals and four assists, including a league-leading five game-winning goals and two game-winning assists. Shea was at his best during a 12-game period between May 14 and July 20. During that time, Shea scored seven goals to lead FC Dallas to a record of 7-2-3.

Three of those wins came as a direct result of Shea, who produced highlight-reel goals to steal road wins against Seattle (May 25), Chivas USA (June 18) and Toronto (July 20). Shea also tied for ninth in goals scored this season despite spending the first five games of this season, and a sixth match on May 7, at center back.

Hartman tied with Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando for the league lead with 13 shutouts, including his 100th career shutout against New England Revolution on June 4. The veteran also led the league in wins with a record of 15-11-7 during the regular season. He was named MLS's Player of the Month for July after recording four shutouts in six matches.

Hartman earned his 12th clean sheet of the season against Chivas USA on July 31 to eclipse the FC Dallas club record of 11 shutouts in a season. Since joining FC Dallas Hartman boosted his MLS all-time records in several categories including: 386 games played 1,376 saves, 171 wins and 106 shutouts. He also increased his all-time MLS postseason records for games played (49), minutes played (4,522) and saves (175).

About MLS Awards The finalists, listed in alphabetical order below for each award, earned the most votes in polling of three voting groups: Current MLS players, MLS Clubs (Coaches, Technical Directors, Presidents, and PR/Community Relations) and Media members who covered MLS regularly in 2011. Voting was based on performance in the 2011 MLS Regular Season.

This season's most outstanding individual plays will be honored on Wednesday, Nov. 16 when the AT&T Goal of the Year and the Save of the Year are announced. Voting for the AT&T Goal of the Year and the MLS Save of the Year is conducted on the League's official web site MLSsoccer.com .

The 2011 awards announcements conclude Friday, Nov. 18 with the unveiling of the 2011 MLS Volkswagen MVP and Commissioner's Award.
