FC Dallas Adds Forward Bonner and Defender Speed in Second Half of 2016 MLS SuperDraft

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Jan. 19) - FC Dallas selected forward Colin Bonner (third round, 45th overall) and defender Jacob Speed (fourth round, 78th overall) in the second half of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft held today via conference call.

Bonner, 21, scored 23 goals and added 15 assists in 75 starts for UNC-Wilmington between 2012 and 2015. A 2015 NSCAA First Team All-Midwest Region selection as a senior, Bonner recorded career highs in goals (7) and assists (6) last fall. The 6-4 forward was a two-time all-state selection at Reservoir High, in Fulton, Maryland.

Speed, 22, began his college career at the University of Kentucky. The defender made 21 appearances before transferring to Southern Methodist University for his sophomore season. During his three years at SMU, Speed played in 46 matches and picked up two assists. SMU finished the 2015 season with a 15-3-4 record, holding opponents to 0.99 goals per game. Speed played high school soccer in nearby Mansfield, Texas.
