COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today selected Saint Louis University forward Vincent Cicciarelli (pronounced: SIS-uh-relly) in the Third Round (60th overall) of the 2016 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, with the final two rounds held via League conference call this afternoon. Cicciarelli, 22, totaled 13 goals and five assists over 59 matches (12 starts) during his collegiate career. The forward attended the University of Notre Dame from 2011-2014, scoring eight goals in 44 matches for the Fighting Irish before transferring to Saint Louis University ahead of the 2015 campaign, where he notched five goals and two assists over 15 games (12 starts) last season.

In 2013, Cicciarelli was a Third-Team All-ACC selection following a season with six goals and three assists as he helped Notre Dame win a national championship. He transferred to Saint Louis University ahead of the 2015 campaign, where was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week in August following his game-winning goal in double overtime against Tulsa on August 28.

"After hosting Vincent at our Crew SC College Combine in 2015, we felt he could provide some quality depth at the forward position this preseason as he also demonstrated his scoring ability at the collegiate level," said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. "Overall, we are pleased with our five selections in this year's SuperDraft across all rounds and we look forward to welcoming them to camp this weekend as they compete for a roster spot."

Cicciarelli was the fifth overall player chosen by Crew SC in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft following last week's First and Second Rounds, held at the Baltimore Convention Center. The Black & Gold previously selected Florida Gulf Coast midfielder Rodrigo Saravia (pronounced: suh-RAH-vee-ah) in the First Round (19th overall) as well as Cal Poly midfielder Chase Minter (21st overall), Charlotte forward Kyle Parker (31st overall) and Wheaton forward Marshall Hollingsworth (41st overall) in the Second Round.

The Black & Gold begin their preseason with entrance physicals and testing this Friday, January 22 before heading to Lakewood Ranch, Florida for their first camp from January 23 - February 5. After that camp, Crew SC trains at SuperKick in Powell from February 8-12 before departing to participate in the Desert Diamond Cup from February 15-27. The Black & Gold begin their 21st season on Sunday, March 6 at Portland and return home for the Opening Match at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, March 12 against Philadelphia.
