Impact Selects Defender Brendan Hines-Ike in Third Round of SuperDraft

MONTREAL - With the final two rounds of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft held this afternoon, the Montreal Impact selected defender Brendan Hines-Ike in the 3rd round, 55th overall, from the University of South Florida.

Selected as one of two team captains to start the season at USF, the 21-year-old started all 20 games in his first and only season as a Bull. He was named to the American Athletic Conference First Team, recording two goals on the season.

In 2013, he was also named to the All-Big East Second Team while at Creighton and was previously a member of the Chivas U18 Academy.

Just prior to the MLS Combine, Hines-Ike signed a four-year contract with Örebro SK of the Swedish first division. Therefore, the Impact now holds his MLS rights.
