GENEVA, IL -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the first inning on their way to a 5-3 win over the Kane County Cougars Wednesday afternoon at Elfstrom Stadium. Timber Rattler starting pitche Mark Lowe pitched six scoreless innings and set a professional high for strikeouts with seven. Marshal Hubbard homered and had three hits for the Rattlers. Sebastien Boucher added three more hits for the Rattlers as they won their third straight game.

The Rattlers (26-20) scored seven runs in the ninth inning on Tuesday night and they picked up Wednesday's game right where the left off on Tuesday.

Josh Womack walked Yung Chi Chen singled, and a wild pitch moved the runners up to third and second. Asdrubal Cabrera drove in the first run with an infield ground out. Mike Wilson singled in Chen. Hubbard lined a two-out, two-run homer to left field and put the Rattlers up 4-0.

Lowe kept the Cougars off balance and off the scoreboard for six innings. He did not walk a batter and all four hits that he allowed were two out singles.

The Rattlers added an unearned run in the top of the seventh to pad the lead to 5-0.

Kane County (20-25) got on the board with a two-out RBI single Travis Chapman in the bottom of the seventh off Rattler reliever Eric O'Flaherty.

The Cougars got two more runs off O'Flaherty in the bottom of the eighth. An RBI single by Myron Leslie and an RBI grounder by Tommy Everidge pulled Kane County to within 5-3. Rattler closer Craig James came into the game with a runner at third and the tying run at the plate. James struck out Nicholas Blasi to end the bottom of the eighth.

James worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning for his fifth save of the season.

The final game of the four game series at Kane County is Thursday evening. Aaron Jensen (2-4, 3.97ERA) will be the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Ryan Ford (5-2, 4.47ERA) is scheduled to start for the Cougars. Game time is 6:00pm.
