Farias Named Offensive Player of the Month

Baltimore, MD â The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Baltimore Blast forward Carlos "Chile" Farias has been named the MISL Offensive Player of the Month for January. Farias led the Blast to an 8-1 record in January with 21 points in nine games.
Farias, 27, recorded seven goals and 14 assists in January. He recorded at least one point in eight of Baltimore's nine games in the month and multiple points in seven of those matches. His biggest offensive performance came on January 24 in Baltimore's 7-6 overtime loss to the Dallas Sidekicks when Farias scored three goals and added two assists for his first hat trick of the season.
The 5-6, 155-pound forward leads the Blast with 42 points this season and ranks third in the MISL in points. He leads the League with 30 assists and has been named MISL Offensive Player of the Week twice this year â on January 25 and November 9. Last season Farias ranked second in the MISL in points and was named Second Team All-MISL, MISL Offensive Player of the Month for November and Player of the Week in early October. He also represented the San Diego Sockers in the 2003 MISL All Star Game. The Blast acquired Farias via a trade with the Sockers in July in exchange for defender Sean Bowers.
The Baltimore Blast (17-6, first in the Eastern Division) will play a schoolday game tomorrow morning at 11:35 a.m. against the Kansas City Comets (8-14, second in the Central Division). The Blast will play Saturday night against the Philadelphia KiXX and will travel to San Diego on February 14 to play the Sockers before returning to 1st Mariner Arena on the 21st to host the Cleveland Force. February 21 is bobblehead night and the first 2,500 fans who enter the Arena will receive a free Danny Kelly bobblehead, courtesy of the Baltimore Blast and 1st Mariner Bank.
