Amarillo, TX 9/2/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas have another old face returning to the Panhandle for the 2009-2010 season in center Jason Chafe.

Chafe, 28 (02/14/1981), returns after spending last year skating for Port Huron of the International Hockey League. Chafe is an Amarillo hockey veteran, spending a total of three seasons with the Gorillas between 2005-2008.

"Jason is a proven force who plays hard every shift," expressed Gorillas Head Coach Brian Pellerin. "Chafe will bring an intense, well rounded game to our club. We look for him to be a positive influence in the room and the community."

During his time in the Panhandle, the Stony Creek, Ontario (located 50 miles North of Buffalo, New York) native racked up 27 goals and 75 points. In his final two seasons with the Gorillas, Chafe ranked sixth and seventh in goals scored, including 113 penalty minutes during 2006-2007 alone. A proven winner, Chafe has made the playoffs in three of his four professional seasons.

"Jason has first-hand knowledge of the atmosphere and the fans of the Panhandle," commented Gorillas General Manager Robert Simmons. "That conformability will in turn brew enthusiasm for our fans and the community. We're certainly looking forward to seeing Jason on the ice."

Prior to his first stint in Amarillo, the Toronto Maple Leafs fanatic skated for Rochester Institute of Technology from 2001-2005. Chafe would average a point a game with the Tigers, scoring 93 points in only 81 colligate games.

Chafe is not only familiar with the Panhandle area, but also his current teammates. Chafe will reunited with forwards Austin Sutter, David Nimmo and Joe Guenther who he played with during his three-year stint with the Gorillas.
