Teams, Sponsors Sought For RiverKings Golf Scramble

September 2, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Teams and sponsorships are still being welcomed for the sixth annual Mississippi RiverKings Golf Scramble, presented by Emergency Mobile Health Care (EMHC), which is set for Friday, October 2nd, 2009 at the Hernando Hills Country Club in Hernando, Mississippi.

A full day of activities is planned, including lunch, golf, dinner, live auction and raffle. Registration begins at 11:30 AM and the four-person scramble starts at 1:00 PM with a shot-gun start.

A putting contest during the afternoon will take place, with the contest finals set for 6:00 PM. Following that, dinner will be served and the day will culminate with the awarding of tournament prizes, live auction and raffle in the clubhouse of the country club, located at 1000 Bradley Drive, west of McIngvale Road and north of Byhalia Road in Hernando.

All proceeds from the outing benefit the Jr. StreetKings and Hernando Youth Sports programs, according to Derek Landmesser, RiverKings captain and coordinator for both the golf scramble and Jr. StreetKings program. "The Jr. StreetKings league started as a way to get area youth involved in hockey," Landmesser said. "The program gives them something constructive to do with their free time, while learning the benefits of being a team player."

Landmesser added, "The money we raise will go directly to running the league, as well as providing financial aid and scholarships for players in need."

Golfers will receive a complimentary tee-shirt and a large gift bag, in addition to the pre-scramble lunch and dinner at the conclusion of the day. Players will also be able to participate in the various putting, driving and closest to the pin contests as part of the tournament.

In addition, CHL Coach of the Year Kevin Kaminski and members of this year's RiverKings roster will be on hand to participate in the tournament, meet golfers and sign autographs.

For those who do not wish to golf, but are still interested in supporting the tournament, there are still vacancies available for hole sponsorships at $100 each, plus other sponsorship opportunities are available, as well as gift bag donations, auction and raffle prizes.

The entry fee for playing in the RiverKings Golf Scramble is $500 for a four-person team and individuals may play for $125. $100 of each player's fee is tax-deductible ($400 per four-person team). Teams can include your own four-some, or the group may sign in as a three-some and a RiverKings player will be added to complete your group. In order to guarantee your spot in the tournament, player and sponsorship fees must be paid for by September 25th.

More information about the sixth annual RiverKings Golf Scramble is available by contacting the RiverKings offices at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven at 662-342-1755.
