January 17, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Springfield Falcons News Release
The Springfield Falcons players were once again busy in the community on Tuesday, January 17 hosting a pair of special events at Amelia Park Ice Arena in Westfield, MA. #27 Cody Goloubef and #33 Tim Spencer visited with the Springfield Sliders Sled Hockey Team taking part in their hour long practice and also signing autographs after the skate.
The Springfield Sliders Junior Team Sled Hockey is an outpatient rehab program started by Shriners Hospital for Children. All players are patients at Shriners Hospital in Springfield. The Sliders play annually in the New England Sled Hockey Tournament. If you are interested in supporting this program, contact gm@ameliaparkice.org.
Also on Tuesday night, #25 Theo Ruth and #28 Brent Regner joined members of the Westfield Youth Hockey organization in a practice session with both players showcasing their skills to the youngsters. Both Ruth and Regner also stayed and signed autographs after the skate and took some pictures with the families in attendance.
The Westfield Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) was founded in 1969. WYHA reached its 40th birthday in 2009, making it one of the longest running youth hockey organizations in the Bay State. When you join WYHA, you are joining a hockey organization that has strong history, over four decades of stability, and proven success in molding great players and people.
WYHA is a member of the Greater Springfield Hockey League (GSL). Our association fields teams in the Mite thru Midget Level in the GSL and we run a "house" league for the mini-mite age level. The association also offers "Learn to Skate" and "Learn to Play Hockey" programs for beginners.
WYHA is run by a volunteer Board of Directors with the support of many volunteer coaches and parents. If you would like to volunteer your services, please contact one of our Board members.
