Published on January 17, 2012 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that the 2012 AHL Outdoor Classic presented by Molson Canadian and Boston Pizza, a regular-season outdoor game between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies to be played Saturday, January 21, at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, will be televised to audiences across Canada and the United States.
The Bulldogs, top development team of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens, will take on the Marlies, AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, in the fourth outdoor game in the American Hockey League's 76-year history, and the first to be held in Canada.
This historic AHL game will be televised live nationally across Canada on Sportsnet in all four broadcast regions, with coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 21. The game will also be streamed on AHL Live (ahllive.com), and will be re-broadcast on NHL Network in the U.S. on Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. ET. Sportsnet's Kevin Quinn, Louie DeBrusk and Gene Principe will have the call of the game.
Located only 40 miles (64 km) apart in southern Ontario, the Bulldogs and Marlies are fierce provincial rivals in the AHL's North Division. Saturday's meeting will be their fifth this season and their 75th all-time since the Marlies joined the AHL in 2005.
