Springfield Falcons News Release

Albany, NY - The Springfield Falcons lost by a 4-1 score on Wednesday night to the Albany Devils at the Times Union Center.

The teams skated to a scoreless first period despite the Devils outshooting the Falcons 13-2. The two shots ties a season-low for shots in one period. Falcons netminder Marek Langhamer returned to the net after Saturday's 43-save performance and made several stops on Albany's scoring chances from the slot.

Just 59 seconds into the second period, Albany's Brandon Bulon broke open the scoring with his fourth of the year assisted by Paul Thompson. Halfway through the period, Albany added a shorthanded tally from Ben Johnson for his first of the year with an assist from Brian O'Neill. Albany extended their lead to 3-0 with a slap shot goal from Jim O'Brien for his 16th of the year at 14:42. The goal was scored on a rush into the zone with assists from Gunnar Hughes and Max Novak. Hughes picked up his first professional point in his first professional game.

Matt Lorito began the third period with his 16th of the year just 42 seconds into the frame. The goal was assisted by Corbin McPherson and Thompson. Following the goal, the Falcons pulled Langhamer in favor of Niklas Treutle. The remainder of the period was even as the teams traded scoring chances. With 1:19 left, Tyler Gaudet deflected a Dylan Reese shot to break Yann Danis' shutout bid. Gaudet's second of the year was also assisted by Justin Hache. That goal concluded the scoring as the Devils won 4-1. Langhamer took the loss with 20 saves which moved his record to 6-7-2. Treutle stopped all seven shots in relief. Danis made 17 saves to improve his record to 26-9-5 on the season.

The Falcons continue the season's longest road trip with a pair of games on Friday and Saturday in Portland, Maine. The Pirates host the Falcons on both nights at 7:00 p.m. The games can be heard live on NewsRadio560 WHYN or viewed on AHL Live.
