News and Notes

Stockton is 14-2-1-0 at home since January 2

The Heat have outscored teams 91-67 (24 goal diff.)

Stockton continues to lead the league in average shots for per game with 34.73

Saturday's come-from-behind win was the first win for Stockton when trailing after 40 minutes on the road and just the second time all season long that the Heat staged a third period comeback to win the game

It was also Stockton's eighth win on the road which puts them in a three-way tie with Springfield and Manitoba for the fewest wins away from home this season

Stockton has the following matchup's remaining this season

Four against Ontario (two at Stockton Arena and two on the road)

Four against San Diego (three at Stockton Arena and one on the road)

Two against San Jose (two at Stockton Arena and one on the road)

One against Bakersfield (on the road)

One against Manitoba (on the road)

TOTALS: 12 games remaining (six at Stockton Arena, six on the road)

Kevin Poulin has started 22 of the Heat's last 28 games

The Heat got a little healthier last week as:

Derek Grant returned after missing 14 games with a fractured jaw

Dustin Stevenson returned after missing 12 games with a lower body injury

Oliver Kylington returned after missing 16 games with an upper body injury

Derek Grant set new career highs with

Six Game Goal Streak (9 goals)

tied second longest in the AHL

Seven Game Point Streak (9-6-15), three points more than his previous career high set this season in the same amount of games

Points in 10-straight road games dating back to 12/20/15 and saw it end on Monday in Manitoba

tied third longest such streak in the AHL this season, one game away from tying Toronto's William Nylander however Grant matched Nylander's point output

Stockton's 59 minutes of penalties against Bakersfield on Saturday was a team high this season. The 45 minutes collected in the second alone would have beaten the previous high of 39 against the Ontario Reign back in December.

Stockton was shutout for the third time this season on Monday against the Manitoba Moose. All three goaltenders to do it have played time in the NHL with Peter Buday shutting the Heat out in November, Michael Leighton doing the job in January and now Conner Hellebuyck in March.

Frequent Flyer

Tyler Wotherspoon has become quite the frequent flyer for the Stockton Heat and Calgary Flames.

He's been recalled on emergency four times this season, most recently on Sunday as he headed to help the Flames take down the Montreal Canadiens, flying from Los Angeles to Montreal and playing that same day.

Wotherspoon's March has been crazy busy, playing March 4 and 5 with Stockton, then March 7 and 9 with Calgary. Back then to Stockton for three on the 12th, 18th, and 19th before going up for two games for the Flames this past Sunday and Monday.

Racking up the miles in the air for the third year defenseman!

Start Longest Road Trip

After the Heat completed their four-game stand on Friday, the Heat went right to Bakersfield where they won their eighth game on the road on Saturday. Then it was a trip to Winnipeg where Stockton fell in their first game against the Manitoba Moose as the team has now gone 1-1-0 in their first two games of this long five-game roadie.

Stockton has games against the Moose on Wednesday and a pair of games against the Ontario Reign on Friday and Saturday before returning home in a midweek clash at Stockton Arena on March 30.
