April 8, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. â Fresno Falcons player/assistant coach Glen Gulutzan was named the West Coast Hockey League's Player of the Week for the final week of the league's regular season, while teammates Rob Bonneau and Kris Porter each earned Honorable Mention recognition for the award.
The franchise's all-time leading scorer, Gulutzan contributed a goal and eight assists last week as the Falcons finished the regular season with a four-game unbeaten streak. His two best performances of the week came during Fresno's 7-5 victory over the Bakersfield Condors, when he notched a goal and two assists, and a 4-2 defeat of the Idaho Steelheads during which he recorded four assists. The honor marks the third time Gulutzan has won Player of the Week this season.
Bonneau racked up three goals and five assists last week and continues to bolster the team's offense since joining the club in late March. He has registered points in seven of the eight games he has played in Fresno for a total of five goals and eight assists.
Porter also turned in an eight-point week (4g-4a), which included a pair of game-winning goals. His game-winner in a 4-2 victory against the Long Beach Ice Dogs during the season finale marked the 100th goal of his professional career. The Falcons' leading scorer finished the campaign with the third most goals in the league with 35 and in a tie for fifth with 74 points.
The Falcons begin their Taylor Cup title defense against the Steelheads in the first round of the upcoming playoffs, which gets underway with Games One and Two of the best-of-seven series on Apr. 11 and 12 in Boise at the Bank of America Centre.
