
Pride to meet Inferno for Division Crown

FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride today announced the schedule for the 2003 Kelly Cup Playoffs Southeast Division Semifinals against the Columbia Inferno. Game one will be at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m., while game two is set for Saturday in Columbia, also at 7:00.
The Pride's first home game in the series (Game C) is game three of the series on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00. If necessary, game four will be on Friday, April 18 at the Lion's Den at 7:30. If a fifth and deciding game is necessary, it will be in Columbia on Saturday, April 19.
Pee Dee moved onto the division finals with a 3 games to 1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays in the division semifinals. The Pride clinched the series with a 4-3 overtime win at home last night. Columbia swept the defending Kelly-Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl in their opening series.
This is the second straight season that the Pride and Inferno will meet in the playoffs. Last season, Pee Dee defeated Columbia 3 games to 2 in the Southeast Division Semifinals. During the 2002-2003 regular season, the two teams met nine times. The Pride went 3-5-1 against the Inferno (2-3-0 at home and 1-2-1 on the road) while Columbia was 6-2-1 against Pee Dee (3-1-0 at home and 3-1-1- on the road), including wins in each of the last five meetings between the two clubs.
Columbia finished the regular season in first place in the Southeast Division, and with the most points in the Southern Conference, posting a record of 47-23-2 for 96 points, while the Pride were in third in the division with a 40-26-6 mark for 86 points.
