Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has signed center Jason Bonsignore to a contract. He is expected to be in uniform today when the Falcons host the Bakersfield Condors at 5:00 p.m.
Bonsignore was the fourth overall selection in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He signed an NHL contract with the Oilers on May 1, 1995, and scored his first NHL goal in his debut that night against the Calgary Flames. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound center has appeared in 79 career NHL games with Edmonton and Tampa Bay, scoring three goals and adding 13 assists for 16 points.
The 31-year-old has played in 355 career pro games in North America, registering 68 goals and 121 assists for 189 points. He has spent the bulk of his career in the AHL and former IHL, and enjoyed his best pro season in 1996-97, when he tallied 21 goals and added 33 assists for 54 points in 78 games with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. Bonsignore has seen ECHL time with the South Carolina Stingrays and Las Vegas Wranglers, and has also spent time in Europe, playing in Switzerland and Finland.
Prior to turning pro, Bonsignore appeared in 191 OHL games with Newmarket, Niagara Falls, and Sudbury, scoring 216 points.
In a separate transaction, Falcons right wing Brady Leisenring was returned on loan from the AHL Worcester Sharks, and also should be back in uniform for Fresno today.
