December 2, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors lost to the Fresno Falcons Sunday evening, 4-3, in overtime in front of 3,292, at Save Mart Center in Fresno. The Condors scored all three of their goals in the second period on the power play, but Fresno came back in the third and prospered in the extra session, although Bakersfield picks up one point for the second straight night.

With both teams very familiar with each other at this point, neither the Condors (5-10-5, 15 points) nor the Falcons (8-6-3, 19 points) found a way to score in the opening period. Goalie Jamie Hodson made the start in net for Bakersfield and stopped eight shots in the first, while Fresno goalie Jake Moreland made nine saves in the opening frame.

After 1:11 ticked off the clock in the second period, Fresno forward Jarrett Konkle drove Condor center Mike Hofstrand into the boards from behind. Konkle was charged with a game misconduct and five-minute major for the hit, setting the Condors up with five minutes of continuous power play. Bakersfield took advantage of the opportunity when Condor center Tim Konsorada struck first with his team-high 12th tally of the year. Forward Brett Lutes hit Konsorada across the slot for the one-timer goal, which was assisted by Lutes and defenseman Kevin Truelson. Bakersfield stretched the lead to two just 53 seconds later, as Truelson found forward Mark Derlago with a cross-ice, tape-to-tape pass that Derlado chipped into the net for the tally. Still shorthanded, Fresno got on the board when Daryl Marcoux slapped a rebound past Hodson to make the score 2-1 at the 4:59 mark of the second. Bakersfield forward Todd Griffith put the Condors back up by two goals by ripping a slap shot from the left- wing circle right past Moreland, making the score 3-1. Fresno again responded to pull within one goal when Falcon forward Igor Gongalsky netted his ninth of the year to make the score 3-2 at 15:41 in the second.

The Falcons tied the game, 3-3, at the 14:09 mark of the third when Kenny MacAuley wristed his second goal of the season into Bakersfield's net from the right point. For the second straight game, neither team had the lead after 60 minutes, resulting in overtime.

Fresno netted the game-winning goal after 1:04 second ticked away in overtime, as Brady Leisenring scored his third goal of the season.

Notes: Bakersfield center Mike Hofstrand was activated from the 30-day IR today, and played his first game of the season tonight. Hodson stopped 32 of 36 shots tonight. The Condors out-scored the Falcons, 17-12, over the three games played this weekend.
