Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons opened the preseason with a 7-0 rout of the Hartford Wolf Pack at the MassMutual Center Friday night, as Alex Aleardi led the way with four scores.
Aleardi, a rookie who appeared in three games for the Falcons at the end of the 2012-13 season, notched his first goal at 16:24 of the first period to put the Falcons on the board, 1-0. The Farmington Hills, Michigan native added two second-period scores - at 4:02 and 11:31 - to net the hat trick. He also tacked on a goal with 1:35 remaining in regulation to complete the 7-0 final score.
Jake Hansen found the back of the net twice, scoring just past the midway point of the first period and adding his second at 6:05 of the third period.
Each of the Falcons netminders saw time between the posts Friday night, as Mike Clemente and Linus Lundin combined to shut out the Wolf Pack. Clemente stopped all 11 shots he faced in the first 29:50 of regulation, while Lundin made six stops in the remaining 30:10.
Springfield converted on 1-of-4 power plays, while Hartford struggled on the man advantage, going 0-for-4 Friday night.
