Pirates Release Pearce and Schultz from Tryout, Sign Porowski to Tryout

Portland, Maine - Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Portland Pirates have released Elgin Pearce and Ian Schultz from their tryout contracts. In addition, Treliving announced that the Pirates have signed Mitch Porowski to a professional tryout.

Elgin Pearce, who played in the Pirates exhibition game against the University of New Brunswick, spent last season with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. A native of Port Coquitlam, BC, the 6'1" 168 lbs. center tallied 74 points for the Tigers during the 12-13 season.

Ian Schultz, a 6'2", 216 lbs. right wing, registered an assist against the University of New Brunswick. The native of Calgary, Alberta, spent last season with 4 different organizations, including the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.

Porowski, a 6'4' 215 lbs. left wing from Ottawa, spent last season with Carleton University of the CIS, where he registered 38 points in just 28 games. Prior to his season with Carleton, Porowski spent time with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL and the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.
