Philadelphia, Penn. – Center Jason Jaspers scored the lone goal for the Springfield Falcons as the club fell to the East Division-leading Philadelphia Phantoms, 5-1, before a crowd of 9,515 at the Wachovia Spectrum on Friday evening. Falcons goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier made 25 saves while Philadelphia's Antero Niittymaki stopped 19 of 20 shots to record his 27th win of the season.

Philadelphia left wing Ryan Ready knocked a bouncing rebound past Pelletier to provide the Phantoms a 1-0 lead with 1:38 remaining in the first period. Right wing Mark Murphy and defenseman Freddy Meyer assisted on the goal – the seventh of the season for Ready.

Phantoms forward Jon Sim warded off Falcons defenseman Mike Egener while carrying the puck in on Pelletier before sliding the puck between his pads at 11:14 of the second period. The goal was Sim's 33rd of the season and his 14th marker over his last 12 games.

Philadelphia added a pair of goals early in the third period to make the score 4-0. Left wing Tony Voce netted his 19th goal of the season from the low slot at the 3:12 mark. Forwards Riley Cote and Josh Gratton assisted on the tally. The trio combined again 4:36 later when Gratton scored on a scramble in front of the Springfield net while Voce and Cote collected helpers.

Jaspers put the Falcons on the board by beating Niittymaki with a wraparound goal with 8:45 left to play. Springfield rookie Andre Deveaux recorded an assist on the goal. It was the sixth goal of the season for Jaspers.

Phantoms left wing Ben Eager capped scoring in the game with his fifth goal of the season with 4:11 remaining.

Philadelphia held a 30-20 shot advantage in the game.

The Falcons killed off each of the Phantoms' three power plays in the game, but were scoreless on their own five chances with the man advantage.

The loss was the 14th straight on the road for the Falcons.
