Falcons Beat Crunch In Shootout 2-1

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons extended their point streak to six straight games beating the Syracuse Crunch in a shootout by a score of 2-1 on Friday night at the MassMutual Center. An energetic crowd of 3,594 saw the Falcons improve their mark to 4-0-1-1 in their last six games and 7-3-2-1 overall on the season. Springfield remains in a second place tie with the Providence Bruins in the Atlantic Division standings.

For the second straight game, the Falcons received stellar goaltending from Devan Dubnyk, who was the game's first star with 42 saves. Carl Corazzini scored the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout, and also added his first goal of the season at 19:03 of the first period opening the scoring on the evening.

Springfield carried a 1-0 lead through 40 minutes of play before Syracuse's Aaron Rome tied the score at 8:21 of the third period.

After a scoreless overtime, Syracuse's Mike York scored first in the shootout before Springfield's Viacheslav Trukhno and Corazzini converted on the Falcons final two shots of the extra frame earning the hometown team two more points in the standings.
