
Blues Recall Jeff Woywitka from Peoria

St. Louis, Mo. (November 14, 2008) -St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Jeff Woywitka from the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. He fills the roster spot of defenseman Alex Pietrangelo who was assigned to his junior team, the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League.
Woywitka, 25, has skated in seven games with the Rivermen this season, collecting seven assists along with six penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.
The 6-2, 219-pound defenseman has skated in 87 career NHL games all with St. Louis, collecting 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) along with 49 penalty minutes. The Vermilion, Alberta native was originally Philadelphia's first round selection, 27th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.
Pietrangelo, 18, a native of King City, Ontario, has skated in eight games for the Blues this season, recording one assist along with two penalty minutes. He was the Blues' first round pick, fourth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Pietrangelo finished last season seventh among all OHL defensemen in scoring with 53 points (13 goals, 40 assists), playing for the Niagara Ice Dogs. He participated in the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic and the 2008 CHL Top Prospects Game.
Pietrangelo played his first OHL season with the Mississauga Ice Dogs of the OHL, collecting 52 points (seven goals, 45 assists) in 59 games played.
Peoria will take on Quad City tonight from Moline, IL at 7:05 p.m. It will be their fourth meeting of the season and Peoria has taken each of the first three. The game will be broadcast live on Hippie 101.1FM, and online at www.rivermen.net and www.ahllive.com.
The Rivermen will be back at Carver Arena on Saturday to take on the San Antonio Rampage. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the first 5,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Team Calendar.
