Senators Recall Left Wing Ilya Zubov

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ottawa Senators recalled today left wing Ilya Zubov from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

After 13 games this season with the B-Sens, Zubov leads the team in scoring with eight goals and 10 assists. He also has six penalty minutes and a +6 rating. The 21-year-old is in his second National Hockey League season and second pro.

Zubov made his NHL debut on Jan. 15, 2008, playing 14:38 while being held scoreless in a 4-2 loss in Washington.

The native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, played four seasons in Russia's professional leagues, including 2006-07 in its elite league. He split the season between Mytischi and Ufa, scoring a total of four goals with eight assists and eight penalty minutes over 42 games.

He has represented Russia at three events, losing in the gold-medal games to Canada at the 2006 and 2007 world junior championships. Zubov and Team Russia finished fifth at the 2005 world under-18 championship.

Zubov was Ottawa's second pick in the second round, 98th overall, in the 2005 NHL entry draft.

The B-Sens return to the ice tonight when the defending Eastern Conference champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins visit the Arena at 7:05 p.m. Good tickets remain for this divisional contest.
