Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Sebastien Centomo for the 2007-08 season.
Centomo brings plenty of experience to Fresno, as he enters his seventh pro season. He has spent nearly half of his career in the American Hockey League, playing in 95 games with St. John's and Manitoba. He also has one game of NHL experience, appearing with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001-02.
The 26-year-old is no stranger to the ECHL, where he has appeared in 50 games with Greensboro, Las Vegas, and Long Beach, posting a 22-16-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average, and a save percentage of .919.
In 218 career professional games, Centomo has fashioned an overall record of 103-75-20, to go along with a 2.87 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage, to go along with four shutouts.
"Every team needs a number-one goaltender to win, and we have that in Sebastien," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "His experience and numbers prove he has the ability to be a top goaltender in our league. What separated Sebastien is his desire to win and to be the ultimate team player."
"I am really happy to be joining the Fresno Falcons this season," Centomo said. "They have a great organization, and I remember from my time in Las Vegas and Long Beach how passionate the fans are. I know that Matt Thomas always puts together a good team, so I am looking for us to contend for a championship this season."
The Falcons open the 2007-08 season on Friday, October 19, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. for an Opening Night Extravaganza, presented by Eye Q Vision Care. The first 1,000 kids 12 and under receive a replica Falcons' jersey.
