Columbia Inferno News Release
Columbia, S.C.- The Columbia Inferno hired Jessica Judge to be the club's head athletic trainer, head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today. Judge, a native of Boston, is a recent graduate of Northeastern University with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. She will be working closely with team physician Dr. Evan Ekman and his staff at Southern Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. "Jessica comes to us highly recommended, and was chosen from an impressive list of candidates. The Columbia Inferno have developed an outstanding reputation in not only promoting our players, but our staff members as well," Mann said. "She will be a valuable addition to our club, and I look forward to working with her." Judge has previously worked as an assistant trainer with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the AHL, and as a student trainer with the Northeastern football team. While a student at Northeastern, Judge played left wing for the Huskies' women's hockey program, before a shoulder injury ended her playing career. "I am really excited to be a part of this organization. Coach Mann and general manager Jimmy James have been very professional," Judge said. "I have been involved with hockey for much of my life, and I am eager to take on these new challenges." Judge is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She replaces Dave Zeis, who recently left the Inferno to pursue a position with the Dallas Stars of the NHL. The Inferno's 2007-08 home opener is Friday, October 26th against the Augusta Lynx at 7:05 p.m. Season, partial and group ticket packages are now on sale for the 2007-08 season by calling 256-7825 or visiting the Inferno website at www.columbiainferno.com.
