Peoria Rivermen News Release

Here's some information for you on Griffins, or Gryphons, a beast from Greek Mythology:

Griffins have the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion

Sometimes Griffins are depicted as having long, snakelike tails

Most of the time, only females are depicted as having wings. Males have spikes on their backs instead.

Griffins are said to be native to India.

The creatures were said to find gold in the mountains and build nests out of it, which would lure human hunters. This is where the Griffin developed its aggressive nature.

The Griffins currently reside in Grand Rapids, Mich. and will play the Peoria Rivermen tonight at 7 pm.
