Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - One in eight are great odds if you're playing the Texas Lottery. They're not so good when you're gambling with your health. One out of eight women (and 12.6 men per 10,000) will have to fight breast cancer in their lifetime, according to Susan G. Komen® Austin.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Express will host "Pink in the Park" on Saturday, July 27. Together, with Komen Austin and the Shannon Schmitz Group, the Round Rock Express is looking to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer services and research.

As a special tribute to those brave men and women who have battled breast cancer, 20 survivors and their children will take the field with the Express players before the game. They'll stand proud in each of the nine positions during the singing of the National Anthem. Breast cancer survivor Jeanne Stahl will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Express players and coaches will wear special pink pinstripe jerseys that feature the signature pink breast cancer ribbon on the sleeve. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game in a special silent auction hosted by the players' and coaches' wives. They'll also have a wide variety of one-of-a-kind items and VIP packages for fans to bid on, including the opportunity to be manager for a day or bullpen coach for a game. Fans can bid on bats autographed by current Texas Rangers Mitch Moreland, Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Nelson Cruz and more! They'll also host a raffle throughout the game to auction off a special Express gift basket. All proceeds from the jerseys, silent auction and raffle will go directly to Susan G. Komen® Austin.

In an effort to truly turn Dell Diamond pink for the night, the first 1,500 fans through the gates on the 27th will receive a complimentary pink t-shirt, courtesy of the Shannon Schmitz Group, Rocksports and Mister Car Wash. Fans are strongly encouraged to wear pink to show their support of the cause.
