Express Looks to Keep Momentum in this Weeks Match-up against Steelhawks

May 3, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Reading Express News Release

The Reading Express is coming of a big first win this week against the Cedar Rapids Titans and is now looking forward to their third match-up of the season against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, who won the first two meetings.

Last week, the Express defeated the Titans by just three points, and it was a last second 18 yard field goal by the Chicago Slaughter that gave them a three point edge over the Steelhawks.

The last time the Express saw the Steelhawks they were winning at halftime, and the Steelhawks came back in the second half scoring 34 points to claim a 62-41 victory. The Express will need to hold onto the momentum that they carry into this week's game in order to finish the second half strong against the Steelhawks.

Offensively, both teams' quarterbacks threw three interceptions during their games this week. However, the Express' Tim Bailey threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns, while the Steelhawks' Dale Fink threw for 139 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Steelhawks are averaging 37.4 points per game while the Express is averaging 41.1.

Statistically speaking, both defenses match up pretty evenly with only a difference of 24 total tackles and 2 sacks separating the teams, Lehigh Valley barely ahead. The Steelhawks have recorded 11 interceptions on the season (the Express has 4), so the Express will need to watch out for the defenders downfield looking to make those big plays.
