The Junior Express Train powered by the YMCA of Reading and Berks County is Full Steam Ahead October 22, 2012 - Reading, PA Although the Reading Express Indoor Football team announced earlier this year that they will go dormant for the 2013 season, they announce today that the Junior Express Program will operate under the direction and leadership of the YMCA of Reading and Berks County.

The Junior Express enjoyed a successful season last year with eight teams and 144 players representing Berks, Lebanon and Delaware Counties. The Wyomissing Mavericks and the Delaware County Cats took home the Championship Title last year in their respective divisions.

The league is made up of two division with athletes ranging from 2nd to 5th grade. "We are anticipating an increase in the number of teams this year. Based on feedback and the inquiries that I have received since last season, I expect to see 15-20 teams competing this year." said Peter Jordan, 2012 Program Director.

The program was a partnership between the YMCA of Reading and Berks County and the Reading Express. The YMCA will assume all operating responsibilities during the Express's dormancy. "The program was a shining spot in the Express organization last year. We are anticipating on returning home, at the Sovereign Center, for the 2014 football season and we want to keep the momentum of the Junior Express going strong. The YMCA is a leader in youth sports programming and we are honored by this partnership. Not only does the YMCA offer their expertise on running youth programs, but their strategically located facilities, and their Parisi Speed Program are great resources for these young athletes." said Ted Lavender, President of Reading Express.

"The YMCA of Reading & Berks County is thrilled to partner with the Reading Express to provide a youth football program like no other and to introduce players and their parents to the Sinking Spring, YMCA facility and the Parisi Speed School. Those interested in participating in the 2013 Junior Express season are invited to attend an informational meeting for parents and coaches on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Sinking Spring Family YMCA, 4920 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, PA.
