Reading Express News Release

Reading, PA The Reading Express (2-10) will host the Chicago Slaughter (6-6) on Jun. 2 on Savage 61 Dodge Field at the Sovereign Center, 7 p.m., for Fan Appreciation Night. The Reading Express is looking to finish out a rocky season with a win at home, while the Chicago Slaughter needs to win in order to keep their fourth play-off spot.

The last time these two teams met, the Slaughter defeated the Express, 67-50. Last week the Express lost to their cross-county rival, the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, in a game where the Express threw five interceptions. Both teams scored three touchdowns, but the Steelhawks got an edge up with 4 field goals from Paul Stoltz and the Express scored only one field goal from Erik Rockhold.

Last week the Slaughter was defeated by the Bloomington Edge, 62-43, ending a four-game winning streak. In that game, the Edge out-gained the Slaughter by over 100 total offensive yards and the Slaughter had four turnovers that gave the Edge the upper hand.

Currently, the Slaughter is averaging 269.6 yards per game, while the Express is sitting at 225.1 yards per game. The Express has thrown 23 interceptions on the season, six more than the Slaughter. As a team, the Slaughter has recorded 129 more tackles on the season than the Express; however, the Express and the Slaughter are only separated by 4 points when it comes down to average points allowed per game.

This match-up will prove to be a thrilling one especially since it is the last home game of the 2012 season for the Express. There will be a lot of promotions during the game including autographed team photos to the first 800 fans, $1 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn and a 5 gallon bucket to the first 500 fans to the Railheads table courtesy of Sherwin Williams. The Express will also be giving away 2 Justin Beiber tickets to his soon to be SOLD OUT show in Philadelphia. If you purchase a ticket for the June 2 game you will receive an entry into the drawing. All Season Ticket Holders are automatically entered into the drawing. So come out and support the Express in their last home game of the season and get your summer started off with the most exciting show on turf.
