
Wichita Wild vs. Omaha Beef May 5th Game Preview

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will play host to the Omaha Beef this Saturday, May 5th. This will be the third meeting between the Wild and the Beef this season with the series currently tied at one-a-piece. The two teams final regular season grudge match is set to kickoff at 7:05pm (CST), playing out of Hartman Arena.
Each of the first two games between the Beef and Wild this season were played in the Omaha Civic Center. Wichita lost to Omaha in a final score of 58-35 in the team's first meeting of the season. However the Wild won a thriller against the Beef in the second meeting, trumping Omaha in the final seconds of play; final score 49-47. As both teams enter the weekend with a record of 3 wins and 5 loses, this game will be a crucial win to earn with possible playoff implications on the line for both teams.
The Beef will enter this weekend's game coming off a loss to The Sioux Falls Storm last Saturday night, losing at home in a final score of 49-37. In that game, the Beef failed to stop Sioux Fall's Offensive front, allowing 322 yards in total Offense as Storm Quarterback Chris Dixon had a heyday, passing for 5 touchdowns and rush for another.
The Wild enter Saturday night's game off an exciting win against The Allen Wranglers at home last weekend; final score 55-54. The entire game was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams with lead changes nearly every possession. Quarterback Marcus Jackson, who stepped in for starter Phil Stack after a rocky first quarter, threw 9-12 for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns along with 64 yards on 10 rush attempts. Wild Running Back Tywon Hubbard rushed for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Wide Receiver Doug Peirce ran for 35 yards on 3 receptions for 2 touchdowns.

As a rookie Running Back, Tywon is currently leading the IFL in rushing yards; 945 yards in only 7 games. Hubbard was just named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week, and will no doubly be looking to further his lead in the race for IFL Rookie of the Year this weekend.
