BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers (2-2) fell 6-5 in a back and fourth battle on Saturday against the Eau Claire Express (1-2). Mike Porcaro scored three and drove in two of Eau Claire's six runs including the game winner in the ninth with the game tied at five.

Jake Peterson (W, 1-0) was strong in relief of Express' starter Ed Bransema going three innings and striking out four without allowing a run. Tyler Sparger (S, 1) came in for a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the game.

Zach Waters (L, 0-1) arrived in Battle Creek on Saturday afternoon and was thrown into the mix in the ninth inning. A leadoff walk to Porcaro followed by a sacrifice, wild pitch, and RBI single by Jake Cole brought the eventual game-winning run across.

Cam Gibson went 3-4 with two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base in a losing effort. Starter Kyle Slack struck out six in 3.1 innings but was limited due to pitch count.

The Bombers open up a two game set with the Lakeshore Chinooks to wrap up a six game homestand on Sunday. Georgia Bulldog Mike Mancuso gets the ball for his first start of the season. First pitch will be a standard 5:05 ET Sunday start time with a Thunderstix giveaway, a kids extravaganza Sunday, and a Senior Sunday.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America. For information on tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com.
