Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Three Omaha pitchers limited Round Rock batters to four hits as the Royals defeated the Express 6-3 in Friday night's series finale at The Dell Diamond. The Express (5-11) and Royals (7-9) split the four-game series two games apiece. Round Rock completed its first home stand of the season, winning three of eight games.

Omaha starter Gaby Hernandez (2-1) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6.0 innings to earn the win. Carlos Rosa worked the next 2.0 innings, allowing only a Chris Shelton solo home run and two walks with four strikeouts. Blake Wood pitched around a one-out walk in the ninth for his third save of the season.

Jordan Parraz plated the game's first run with a bases-loaded, no-outs sacrifice fly in the top of the second. Mike Aviles added a two-run homer in the third to stake Omaha to a 3-0 lead.

Round Rock got a run back in the fourth on Jason Bourgeois' leadoff homer; it was his first round-tripper of the season. However, the Royals responded with a three-run sixth. Cody Clark delivered a two-run double, and Irving Falu followed with a run-scoring triple.

The Express missed an opportunity in the bottom of the sixth. With no outs and the bases loaded, Edwin Maysonet grounded into a double play. That scored one run, but Brian Bogusevic flied out to end the inning. Shelton's leadoff homer in the seventh capped the scoring for the night.

Express starter Josh Banks (1-2) took the loss; he allowed all six runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Jonah Bayliss, Sammy Gervacio and Evan Englebrook combined to blank the Royals the rest of the way; although, Bayliss surrendered the Falu triple that plated Omaha's sixth run. Gervacio struck out two of the three batters he faced in a perfect seventh inning; he used eight pitches in the frame, all strikes.

Falu, Parraz and Scott Thorman each had two hits for Omaha. Aviles and Clark finished with two RBI apiece.

Round Rock returns to the road Saturday, starting a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines, Iowa. First pitch in Saturday's series opener is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT. Southpaw Gustavo Chacin (0-1, 2.03 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Express, while the Cubs counter with right-hander Jay Jackson (2-1, 2.00 ERA).
