Round Rock hitters pounded out a season-high 20 base hits, 3 homers, and ripped the Omaha Royals in the second game of a four game series at Rosenblatt Stadium, 14-9.
The Express put up six runs over the first three innings with a two-run Mike Coolbaugh homer in the first, an RBI triple from Trenidad Hubbard in the second, and two homers, including a two-run shot by DH Carlos Rivera, and Round Rock led through three, 6-0.
Omaha came back with a five-run bottom of the third, as Round Rock starter Jeremy Griffiths surrendered all five runs on 6 hits including two, two run doubles by 1B Chad Santos and LF Matt Diaz.
But Round Rock reliever Travis Driskill came on and shut down the Royals offense with 5 shutout innings.
Round Rock tacked on four runs in the 6th inning and four more in the 7th for their 14 runs. In the 9th, Express reliever Chris Fussell gave up four runs to make the final 14-9.
On Sunday, the Express meet Omaha in game three of the series. Righty Ezequiel Astacio goes for Round Rock against lefty Jimmy Gobble in the 1:35 start.
