April 17, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders got their season back on track Saturday night by defeating the Salt Lake Stingers 11-9 at Tucson Electric Park. The Sidewinders trailed early as the Stingers jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but in the bottom of the sixth the Tucson offense exploded for eight runs on six hits to take the lead for good. The eight runs marked the largest offensive out put in an inning by the Sidewinders in over two years. Tucson tacked on one in the bottom of the seventh to make it 11-9.

The offensive production in the sixth inning came on a bases loaded triple hit by LF Conor Jackson that scored three and brought the Sidewinders within one run 9-8. A two run double hit by SS Sergio Santos gave Tucson the lead for good at 10-9. The double broke a 0 for 17 streak for Santos.

RHP Brandon Medders was credited with the win, his first of the year. Medders went one inning giving up one hit, two walks, and gave up no runs. The win comes in Medders first appearance since having season ending shoulder surgery in the 2004 season.

The win moves the Sidewinders to 4-6 on the season, and 2-4 against the Salt Lake Stingers. The series continues tomorrow at Tucson Electric Park with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday will mark the season's Bark In The Park where man's best friend is welcome to enjoy a game out at the park. The scheduled starters for the game are LHP Chris Michalak (0-0, 1.50 ERA) for the Tucson Sidewinders and Dusting Moseley (1-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Salt Lake Stingers.
