Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Inclement weather forced the suspension of Sunday afternoon's Portland Beavers-Sacramento River Cats game at PGE Park.

The game was halted after seven innings, tied at 3-3. The suspended game will be resumed Monday morning at 11:05 a.m., followed by the regularly scheduled, nine-inning game to wrap up the series.

Gates open at 10 a.m. on Monday for the OMSI Art & Science of Baseball School Day promotion.

Tickets for Sunday's game can be exchanged at the PGE Park box office for a ticket to Monday's game or any future Beavers home during the 2005 regular season.

Heavy rain originally forced a one-hour, 16-minute delay with two outs in the top of the fourth inning with Steve Jackson at the plate.

The Beavers held a 3-2 advantage going into the fifth, but Jermaine Clark reached on a fielder's choice and eventually scored from third on a passed ball.

Matt Watson's solo home run in the first inning gave the River Cats the early lead, but the Beavers were quick to respond in the bottom of the frame. Kerry Robinson led off with a looping triple to left and was knocked in when Damian Jackson laced a ground-rule double to right. Two batters later, Jon Knott plated Jackson with a sac fly to center and a throwing error by pitcher John Rheinecker led to a third Portland run for a 3-1 lead.

The scoring continued in the second as the River Cats trimmed the deficit with an RBI double by Adam Morrissey.

MONDAY'S REGULARLY SCHEDULED GAME: Sacramento (Seth Etherton: 0-1, 1.64) at Portland (Tim Stauffer: 1-0, 3.75).
