Chicago Express News Release

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, jumped back on the winning track with four third period goals to defeat the Reading Royals 5-2 at the Sears Centre Arena on Saturday night.

The scoring didn't begin until the second period when Reading LW Tyler Brenner directed a 2-on-1 rush in which he found D Rob Kwiet who lifted a shot over the blocker of G Paul Dainton at 7:43. The Express answered back on the power play with just 33 seconds to go in the period when RW Tyler Donati fired a wrist shot right under the glove of G Karel St. Laurent to even the game up at 1-1. The goal was Donati's eighth on the season. Chicago held a 26-14 shot advantage through the first two frames.

The Express wasted no time in the third period when RW Pierre-Luc Faubert buried a deflection into the back of the net at 2:35, putting the Express on top 2-1. The Express added another goal at 5:00 when newly signed D Jonathan Zion backhanded a shot past St. Laurent to extend the lead to two goals. Chicago C Aaron Marvin added another goal at 9:41, helping Chicago open up a 4-1 lead. F Mike Embach stretched the Chicago lead all the way to 5-1 later in the frame. As a delayed penalty was coming to the Royals, a puck deflected to Embach on the side of the goal, and he tapped it home with 2:21 left to play. Reading added the game's final goal when F Kenny Ryan found a rebound on top of the crease, and while diving lifted a shot over G Paul Dainton at 18:21 for the final 5-2 score.
