Tacoma Rainiers News Release

The first place Tacoma Rainiers continue their homestand tonight with the final game of the series against Sacramento, the Oakland A's affiliate. Sacramento has taken two of the first three games so the Rainiers hope to even things up this evening. Game time tonight (Friday) is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 5:30 p.m. There is a lot going on tonight so do your best to make it to the ballpark. First, it is BECU Autograph Night. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Rainiers autograph book. Then about 30-45 minutes prior to the game, several Rainiers players will be available on the field to sign autographs for fans of any age! Following the game there will be a great fireworks show compliments of Click! Network. This is our only fireworks show in June so make sure you join us on this beautiful sunny afternoon!

On Saturday the Las Vegas 51s (Dodgers affiliate) arrive in Tacoma to battle the Rainiers. Game time Saturday is 7:05 p.m. and gates are opening a little early to allow for some fun pre-game promotions. KUBE 93.3's morning radio personality T-Man will be at the game and will be a part of many promotions throughout the game. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. there will be a home run derby which is open for anyone to participate in. To add to the excitement, the winner of the home run derby will win an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas! Then during the game the KUBE "Dysfunctional Family" will be competing at events during the game so that should be a load of fun to watch. For more information on the T-Man's visit to Cheney Stadium, visit our website at www.tacomarainiers.com.

SUNDAY IS BAT DAY! The first 1,500 kids age 14 and younger on Sunday will receive a Wells Fargo Tacoma Rainiers bat! Gates open at noon for this 1:35 p.m. game but get here a little early to make sure your kids receive a bat.

Monday is Domino's Medium Pizza Madness! If the Rainiers score 10 or more runs every fan in attendance will receive a coupon good for a free medium cheese pizza at any Puget Sound Domino's. The game on Monday begins at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30.

The homestand concludes with a 12:35 afternoon game on Tuesday, again against Las Vegas. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. for this game.

Following a trip to Tucson next week, the Rainiers return to Tacoma the following week for a quick four game homestand against Salt Lake June 14-17.

On the field the Rainiers are in first place with a 27-22 record. They maintain a 4.5 game lead over second place Portland. Individually, fan favorite Bucky Jacobsen is off to a tremendous start to the season. Hitting .314, the slugger is tops in the entire league with 49 RBI. His 30 extra-base hits lead the Rainiers and his 13 homers are tied with Justin Leone for the team lead. This is Bucky's first year in the Mariners system. The 28-year old played last season at Double-A Tennessee in the Cardinals organization where he hit .298 with 31 homeruns.

If you are a fan of General Hospital and would like to meet the actors who play Sonny and Jason when they make an appearance prior to the Rainiers game on August 28, you'll have a chance to do so. This weekend we will begin a 7-day auction on eBay for two passes to a PRIVATE "Meet and Greet" with the two hunk actors. Once the auction begins we will have a link to it from the front page of our website so visit that if you are interested. Even if you don't win the auction, you'll still have a chance to get autographs prior to that game in August. It should be a lot of fun!!

Tickets for any game this season are available by calling 253-752-7700 or by stopping by the ticket office. The ticket office opens at 9:00 a.m. each morning. Tickets remain for all of the games this weekend though there are very few box seats remaining. Also don't forget to get your tickets to the VERY popular July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza game soon. That game has our biggest fireworks show of the year and is a longtime Tacoma tradition.
