Salt Lake Bees News Release
On Saturday June 12th, Stingers fans will want to come early and stay late at the ballpark, as The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest visits Franklin Covey Field to see the Salt Lake Stingers take on the Sacramento River Cats.
The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest is the most extensive traveling fan festival in baseball history, and features over 20 midway style attractions including batting cages, a radar gun pitching challenge, baseball museum, "Stealing Home" bungee run, a giant "side by side" super slide, and the Xboxâ Home Run Derby video game trailer. Covering as much as 4,000 square feet, the event is offered free to the public.
The Principal Family Fun Fest sets up in an area outside the ballpark and opens three hours before the game. After the game, a giant inflatable movie screen is set up in the shallow outfield for fans to enjoy the hit family film, "SHREK", under the stars.
Organizers, Entertainment & Sports International, spent over $1 million creating the event, which will appear at 51 ballparks across the country in the 2004 season, including an appearance at the Triple A All Star Game Fan Fest in Providence, Rhode Island in July and the South Atlantic League All-Star Game in Charleston, South Carolina. "We wanted to build an exciting, impressive and professional project like the NFL Experience, or the NBA Jam Session, but tailored to minor league baseball teams and markets," said ESI's Bert Gould. The Principal Family Fun Fest is a day-long celebration of baseball, family and fun. To learn more about the event, visit www.principal.com/funfest.com.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM and tickets are available at the Franklin Covey Field Box Office,
